What does HSA Proof do?
It keeps the receipts, explanations of benefits, and payment records that substantiate HSA-qualified expenses, and tracks how much you have not yet reimbursed yourself. It does not hold money or move it.
What does HSA Proof cost?
Nothing. HSA Proof is free and has no in-app purchases.
Where are my records stored?
On your iPhone. If you turn on iCloud sync, also in your private iCloud database, which only your Apple Account can read. Nothing is sent to Mount Si Labs.
How do I back up?
Export → Generate proof package. Save the ZIP to Files, a computer, or a drive outside iCloud. It contains every document, a CSV ledger, and SHA-256 hashes you can verify with shasum -a 256.
What counts as a qualified expense?
Categories summarize IRS Publication 502. Each shows Likely qualified, Needs review, or Likely not qualified with a short note. These are informational, not tax advice.
Why does the establishment date matter?
Expenses incurred before your HSA was first established generally can't be reimbursed from it (IRS Notice 2004-50). Use the date the original account was opened, even if you changed custodians.
How do I reimburse myself?
Request a distribution from your HSA custodian, then open the expense and tap Record a reimbursement. HSA Proof keeps the log; the custodian moves the money.
How do I lock the app?
Settings → Security → Lock with Face ID. The app asks for Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode whenever it opens, and hides your records in the app switcher.
How do I delete everything?
Settings → Delete all my data. With sync on, this also removes the copy in your private iCloud. Export first if you want a copy.
Can I use it on Android or the web?
Not yet. The export format is documented and portable, so your records are never locked in.
